Meeting with the group. 03/11/10

Today after our media lesson I, Edward and Esma stayed behind for an hour to finnish off our storyboard re-draft. We recieved feedback that our storyboard seemed to abrupt and obvious and there wasnt any intersting enough camera techniques. There needed to be more tilts, pans etc.

So we went back to our storyboard and picked out shots that we weren't completley satispied with and felt was too bland. We looked at differnt ways in which we could shoot the shot. for example one shot was of Delilah walking down the stairs, what we understood was a better way of showing this, in a more interesting way would be shooting the shot through the banister on the stairs.

heres a picture which is very close to the shot we got in mind. through a shot like this we would see Delilah comming downstairs.

in these meetings we sat as a group and wrote the final treatment of the film and during this meeting we came across problems with how the story will be shown and many more things. These video highligh somekey discussions that will help determaine the outlook of our film.

Meetings with the group 2

I met up with my group to during half term to finnish off the stroyboard. before we started we discussed again the treatment and read over our script to confirm it was final and brush up on any problems. We were ready to start making it into a storyboard and began by discussing every shot one by one and noting down as a list what every shot will include, so we noted briefly for every shot the location, the main props, body language, facial expressions and basically the mise en scene of every shot. after we organised all the shots into order we decided to begin drawing it out so we can see if it visually meets our imaginations.
Our second meeting was with one of our cast members Josh, we asked him to see the group in person and to look through the storyboard we planned out to get a feel of the film and to understand his role and character in the film more deeply.
we got a shot of rebbecca who will be the casting as Delilah and Josh together to give us a little pre picture of the couple in the film and to get a feel to see if it would work out, which we all agreed it did.

Our first meeting - looking at fast edits

This clip is research on fast edit scenes which we as a group shared an interest in. we liked the style of fast edits and noted that as an idea or aspect of the film that we wanted to look more into.

i decided to look into films which contained fast edits/transitions and use them for inspiration on style of editing



WHY FAST EDITS?

We understood that the them of 'the fall' means at some point, their is a stumble, a downfall. focussing on this part, means it will have to be effectively shown, audience should be able to feel the stumble, the fall of the character or situation. one way we understood the tension and heat of the moment of the stumble and fall can be portrayed is through fast editing, as it speed up you mind, your thoughts etc, wheras slow edits allow you to be more relaxed. therefore i researched into fast edits to give me a clear insight as to how the fast editing style can be done, what moments do they begin to pace up and at which moments wil it slow down.
